Think Differently: Innovation, Capital, and Women of Color

It’s not news that the tech industry is hard on women — at least it’s not to Kathryn Finney. In 2014, Kathryn and her pioneering organization, digitalundivided (DID),  started a data project called #ProjectDiane, that quantified just how hard the industry is for women, especially women of color, led startup founders.  The startling data, only 11 Black women had raise over $1 million in outside venture funding since 2006, led DID to develop a series of extraordinary initiatives to help women of color access the capital they need to build their companies. Two of the biggest initiatives are the BIG Innovation Center and Incubator and  the Harriet Fund, the first impact fund investing in high performing Black and Latina women led startups. Hear her share the inspiring story and understand the real challenges and barriers for women of color looking to access capital in the innovation economy.
